Got two more bee blocks to share. This one took a little time & patience. I also switched around some fabrics and changed my mind twice, but fiddling around with the placement and fabric choices really paid off and helped this star shine!
The block is called Supernova and the tutorial is found here. After sewing together the first two pieces unsuccessfully lining up the angles, I basted all the other seams before permanently sewing them together.
The next block is a modern house. We could pick whatever design we wanted to make in a specific color palette (green, gray, orange), so I looked around online and settled on trying to mimic the lines of this house. I wish I had tried to make it more two dimensional, but hey, it’s done and looks like the photo.
Have a great weekend!
Great blocks! Part of me really wants to do a bee, but another part realizes that I would be horrible at sewing under a schedule.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are fabulous. I'm queen bee this month in my bee and I asked for house blocks! Love yours.
ReplyDeletefantastic blocks, Jamie.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these blocks--but that Supernova block! It's amazing. It's a good block, but the mix of fabrics you chose is really striking. I love the AMH with the Chicopee, in particular.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! You and your bee blocks lately! They look incredible! Love the supernova block!
ReplyDeleteYou're a bee block super whizz!! You're blocks are always so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I love it when you design your own blocks. That little modern house is fab!
ReplyDeleteYour supernnova block is just super! ;-)
But the need to baste all the seams makes me put this block waaay back on my one-day list.
