Make It Modern March Sponsor

The Fat Quarter Shop is sponsoring an amazing prize for members of the Make It Modern quilting bee on Flickr.  The winner for March is getting a fat quarter bundle of Bonnie and Camille’s newest line for Moda, Happy Go Lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How sweet is this fabric?  And how sweet is the Fat Quarter Shop for being such a generous sponsor?!!?

happy go lucky

The Fat Quarter Shop has a seemingly endless array of fabrics, thread, patterns, and a huge sale section that I frequent every chance I get.  I love to stock up on great deals on everyday fabric basics like this one--only $6.30 a yard for Annie’s Farmstand dots on red

and get a few yards of fabrics that might make perfect backing fabric for a project I’ve got in the works.  Like this…

cabana blooms

At $5.38 a yard, these Cabana Blooms Tiles would make an bright and bold statement on the back of a quilt.

What I am waiting with bated breath for is Sarah Watson’s newest line that should be available in stores in early April.  It’s called Indian Summer.

Yes, I am totally psyched about this newest line of fabric and have already very conveniently signed up to be notified when the fabric is available for sale.  The Fat Quarter Shop lets you sign up your email address to be notified as soon as it’s available.  How convenient is that?!!?

The Fat Quarter Shop was the very first online shop I purchased fabric from back when I was in a sock monkey phase and needed lots of Erin Michael’s Funky Monkeys and Monkeyin’ Around fabrics.  I’ll tell you, the Fat Quarter Shop had them all!  I’ve been shopping with them for about 7 years now, and every experience has exceeded my expectations---through the roof!

The Jolly’s run a very professional, yet fun, fabric store.  And their generosity to bloggers and quilters everywhere is unparalleled.  Thanks, Fat Quarter Shop, for making March a month to remember for one lucky winner!!!

Make It Modern Sponsor Quilt Taffy

Quilt Taffy is a friendly online fabric store run by Corrie and Des out of their home state of Idaho.  When I started sewing a few years ago, it was by sheer luck that I found their store first through eBay, and then later through Etsy.

I love the custom charm packs in their store.  And they carry the newest collections and trendy designs.

Corrie has always been fast to respond to my requests for custom orders and even helped me purchase a Christmas present from her store and deliver it to my friend, writing a note to go inside the package.  She provides great service and fast shipping, usually the same day I place an order.

shelburne falls

The latest fabric to hit their shelves is Denyse Schmidt’s Shelburne Falls.   They’ve also got jelly rolls, layer cakes, and fabric by the yard.  This sushi print from Robert Kaufman would make a cute tote or lunch sack.

If you follow Quilt Taffy’s blog, you can enter a giveaway every Thursday for fabric prizes like charm packs and fat quarter packs.

One lucky Make It Modern winner will get her choice of charm pack from Quilt Taffy’s Etsy store.  Make sure you’ve mailed your blocks and uploaded your photos to Flickr by midnight on February 28th.  A winner’s name will randomly be drawn on March 1.

Thanks, Quilt Taffy, for providing such an awesome sweet treat!   What would you pick if you won?

Southern Fabrics

It’s already January 22nd!  Have you finished your bee blocks yet?  Started them yet?  Thought of what fabrics you want to use?  I have a lot of bee block commitments this month and am happy to say I’m about halfway done.

The Make It Modern Quilting Bee is thrilled to have Southern Fabrics as one of our monthly sponsors!  Southern Fabrics sells on both their own website and Etsy

A few months ago I needed to round out my stash with some colors that were lacking, and just by chance I found Southern Fabrics on Etsy.  They have many different fabric scrap packs available—I was really pleased with how many strips were included in each of the packs I purchased!

I’d love to get this V and Co Simply Color Scrap Pack.

Simply Color Scraps-- Scrap Bag Quilt Fabric by V and Co.

Of course Southern Fabrics also carries tons of charms packs, jelly rolls, and layer cakes, and has an amazing selection of fat quarter bundles and yardage.  One of the nice things about this shop is the daily deal.  You can score a charm pack or jelly roll for way below the retail price!  Like their Facebook Page to see the current giveaway and (if available) a coupon code.

Thanks to Southern Fabrics for sponsoring our Make It Modern Quilting Bee!!!  This month Kelie and I will randomly pick a winner from all the people who posts a pic of their blocks by the last day of the month (which happens to be a short 2 Thursdays away).  The winner this January will have her choice of any charm pack at Southern Fabrics.  So get those blocks done, photographed, and in the mail to be in the running!

Giveaway Day!

Would you like to win your own copy of the book “Pretty in Patchwork Holidays” and a pack of 16 fat quarters?

1-005

The book is by John Adams, aka Quilt Dad, and it contains 30+ different holiday projects by talented quilters such as Monica Solario-Snow.  This cute pillow caught my eye immediately.

1-012

The fat quarter pack is an assortment of 16 fat quarters from Connecting Threads called “Technicolor Christmas.”

1-008

This is the pillow I made from the book with the same fat quarters and a few fabrics from my stash.  I will do a post about making it later this week so we can get to the GIVEAWAY!

1-001

My friend Kelie and I have organized a new online quilting bee called Make It Modern.  This is a fast-paced bee that lasts 6 months instead of 12 and each bee member makes 2 blocks per month.  The theme is modern!  Modern fabrics, colors, and designs.  And it involves a prize every month and multiple prizes at the end of the bee.  We have sponsors already lined up! If this bee is something that you think you might be interested in, check out the Flickr page and fill out a Google form here.   The bee and alternate spots have been filled!

Ok, now to the really important part!  Here’s how you can enter to win the book and fat quarters.  Open to US residents only.

1.  Leave a comment  telling me if you’ve ever participated in an online bee and, if have a spare moment, any advice for making it fun and a great experience.

2.  Get an extra entry for being a follower, new or old.  Just leave a comment telling me you signed up with Google Friend Connect on the right hand side of my blog.

And check out all the other great giveaways on the Sew Mama Sew blog.

Good luck, friends!
