This quilt top was finished a week before Christmas. But I wasn’t happy with the original.
That blue & red sawtooth line seemed to divide the quilt and there wasn’t enough white in that area.
So, after a little seam ripping, I am much happier with the new look.
The top is made from a layer cake of Wee Folks. But since I had used all the pieces already, I substituted a brown floral on white from Sew Cherry in the sawtooth row. It blends right in.
The little gnomes and toadstools are so adorable! The blocks are pinwheels and stars.
Now I’m not sure what to use for backing and binding. As usual, there is nothing suitable in my stash…so I’ll need to buy something!
I love that quilt top! Don'tcha hate when you have to fabric shop? :D
ReplyDeletePinwheels are one of my favorites and that gnome fabric is so cute!
It seems to go that way for the backing and binding doesn't it! Such is life;) Love, love the yellow and red in this quilt. They make it nostalgic to me.....just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteCute fabric! I agree that the new version is a little better. Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely quilt, Jamie. I totally agree with you about the sawtooth block, it fits in so much better now. Looking forward to seeing how you quilt it.
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the sawtooth block, it´s calmer and at the same time fresher now. I too think this lovely quilt has a nostalgic feel so I´d use gingham fabric on the back. Or polkadots :)
ReplyDeleteA happy new year to you and yours! (I should go back to wash the dishes after yesterday´s fondue party at our place...)
Hi neighbor! It's nice to visit your blog and see what you're up to. Love it that you have a little one who sews. I'm so envious of that! I'm doing the Madrona Road challenge too (I'm quilting mine right now) so I enjoyed seeing your little star blocks. Great Y seams!
