Hungry Caterpillar

The quilt is finished!  It is washed and dried and my daughter is sleeping under it as I type.

I tried so many different free motion quilting designs on this quilt, many from Angela Walters’s book.  My two favorites were the flower and the wonky diamonds.  I could see myself getting pretty good at both of those.

I really like the way the back of the quilt looks with all the different quilting designs.  The pebbling was difficult but I love the texture it adds to the front and the back!

My daughter was thrilled to see the quilt when it was done.  She loves The Hungry Caterpillar book and it’s that time of year when caterpillars are making their appearance.  Every year we order Painted Lady caterpillars.  She was old enough this year to help release them.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. This is such a lovely quilt! But your FMQ is even more stunning. Wow.

I loved 'the bad tempered ladybird' and 'the very hungry caterpillar'. "Nachts im Mondschein lag auf einem Blatt ein kleines Ei..."

  14. I bought this kit. In fact I bought two of them before I even had grandkids so one could go to my daughter's child and one to my son's child... when they had them. Just last week I bought the backing fabric thinking that it will not be long before caterpillar coordinated prints are no longer available. Each quilt will have a different backing. I am particularly fascinated by how you quilted yours since that is the part of my quilting that is in need of the most growth. I too bought and liked Angela Walter's book. Hard to tell from the photo... did you use white thread throughout? Super great FMQ job!
